CD-R 100 Pack Spindle

Review Date: February 10, 2010
Reviewer: E. M. Watson, Bournemouth, England
The pack arrived within three days.
I am storing my photos on them.
So far, so good, as to how long they may last - well it's in the lap of the God's as they say.
Even the best recording media has been known to fail.
I'm ever hopefull.
excellent!

Just ran out of blank discs so this came just in time. I have used 20 so far, each one recorded various items, photos, music, data, all perfectly. Very happy and would most definitely get them again.

These discs are not really the cheapest on the market but they are high quality, despite their 'Basics' branding. The quality of CD-Rs will not matter to some and if you just want to find the cheapest discs around then these are not really cheap enough. However, for most people they will strike the balance between quality and price. Lower quality discs will degrade much more quickly than higher quality discs and they will develop errors more frequently during burning. I am pleased to say that having burnt about 60 of these discs so far, none of them has resulted in an error during the burning process.

The come on the standard spindle that you get with virtually all 100-pack CD-Rs, though with a locking mechanism that I've only seen a few times before. It's pretty much what you'd expect and there are no problems to report here.

The discs are 52x which means you can burn data at 52 times the standard rate, so long as your CD/DVD burner can write at that speed. Essentially, if you are copying a CD that is 52 minutes long, it will take approximately 1 minute with these discs. If your CD/DVD burner does not support 52x burning, then it should automatically burn the discs at the fastest speed it can cope with (often 40x) and the discs should work fine.

It's difficult to say any more really. They are good quality, a fair price and do exactly what you'd expect. The only thing I'm wary of when buying blank CDs is the failure rate. Having had no failures out of a total of 60, they seem to have a very low failure rate so far. Recommended for anyone looking for decent quality discs.
Problem-free CD-Rs at an affordable price...

I've used CD-Rs from this pack of 50 without any problems. I've written music to them and they have worked every time. I'm not sure about the claim that the packaging is 'frustration free' though. My delivery was packed in plenty of cardboard packaging to ensure that the CD-Rs arrived in perfect condition. Luckily my local authority collects cardboard for recycling, but there may be unnecessary waste if this is not the case where you live. Overall, these discs seems as good - if not better - than other brands I have used before.
